Is Regression Therapy Hypnosis?
One of the most common questions that my clients ask me is whether regression therapy is hypnosis.
I will answer this question to help that the regression therapy is understood better and it helps many to benefit this tremendous and profound transformative therapy technique.
What is Regression Therapy?
To start with, I need to say that Regression Therapy does NOT require hypnosis.
Regression therapy takes place in an altered state of awareness which is called trance.
This trance occurs naturally when the focus is taken away from the immediate surroundings and directed inwards, just like in meditation or when you absorbed by a book. Your therapist guides you to get into this state, with various techniques such as deep breathing, relaxation methods .
In this state, your mind, which usually chatters with daily life issues gets calmer and focused. You can focus your awareness on the intended problem to solve, as well as your bodily, mental, and emotional experiences at the moment.
In a regression therapy session, you are awake to be aware of and to remember all the experience and yet relaxed enough to open the gates to subconscious to work on the root cause and the source of the presenting problem.
And this is one of the best aspects of regression therapy, as discernment and integration
happens during the session.

How Does Regression Therapy Help?
Regression is discovering and releasing earlier experiences that are forgotten, ignored, or repressed that are root causes of our current issues. These are the experiences that may lie in our childhood, pre-natal (womb) or past lives.
Those forgotten experiences include emotional wounds that never healed or triggered persistent half-conscious convictions, belief systems about ourselves and life.
All these experiences from the past create subconscious programs that forms our character traits. Such programs (“character traits”) only change when we understand how they were registered and why we have held on to them.
Finding out and reliving undigested experiences unlocks emotions, release somatic residues and bring insight into how present complaints have their roots in those experiences.
Liberation comes with acceptance and acceptance does not happen without understanding.
Even more, regression therapy not only helps releasing repressed emotions, undigested
experiences but also reactivates positive feelings, forgotten positive experiences, and sleeping talents.
How To Find the Right Regression Therapist?
Regression therapy is recognised increasingly as a powerful and efficient transpersonal therapy enabling relatively faster and permanent changes.
It is important that you work with a professional regression therapist that is knowledgable, open-minded, non-judgemental, spiritual yet down to earth.
Regression therapy is not a fantasy adventure, it is a transpersonal therapy and must be applied by “educated” professionals since it requires a great deal of knowledge and professional ethics that are critical to the success of the therapy. A diploma from a “recognised school” is an important criteria to choose your therapist.
Feel free to get in touch with your therapist before the session and learn more about the therapy.
